Sara is thirty-two, a post-doc researcher in Turin, Italy, and thoroughly done with a career that keeps her name off her own papers.
She has spent years learning to live inside a body that doesn’t always feel like hers, acquired two cats in the meantime, and works with her best friend who knows where the bodies are buried.
What she also has, the thing nobody in her life takes seriously, is Blackcats: eight misfits who built a found family out of a shared obsession with K-pop, renting a garage that passes for a rehearsal space.
When the group is selected to represent the Korean boy band Aion on K-Project, a nationally televised international competition in Seoul, Sara boards a plane to Korea, for the first time chasing something she chose entirely for herself.
But in Seoul, the last person she expects to crack her open is an idol. And the wrong one.
